Skytech II Announces Agreement to Sell Firegear Outdoors to AMD Direct,
DBA Summerset Grills

Skytech II has officially sold the Firegear Outdoors brand and its related assets to AMD Direct DBA Summerset Professional Grills.

Henry O. Hall, chief executive officer of Skytech II, said, “After working with Dennis Smith and our team to build and expand Firegear Outdoors into a leading supplier, we are pleased Summerset recognizes the strengths of Firegear Outdoors as well as its future potential.”

Skytech will work closely with Summerset Grills to ensure a smooth transition. The transition will occur over the next few months with the goal to be completely transitioned by the end of January 2020. Summerset is a manufacturer of luxury outdoor cooking appliances and accessories based in Huntington Beach, California, led by president and founder, Jeff Straubel.

Straubel said, “With the addition of the Firegear Outdoors brand, Summerset Grills is well positioned to be the market leader in the entire outdoor living area. Dennis Smith will assume the role of president of Firegear and executive vice president - Sales & Marketing of AMD Direct. With future investments in product development, manufacturing, distribution, and engineering, we are committed to delivering a broad product line and outstanding customer service that our customers have come to know.”

Upon completion of the transition, Skytech will focus on the electronics, valves, and remote controls on which it was founded. Skytech has been supplying innovative products to the hearth industry for over 20 years.

Skytech II is a market leader in the hearth industry. Its products are gas valves, electronics, and remote controls for the Aftermarket and OEM segments for the hearth industry.
