Stûv Unveils Its First Pellet Stove

ICFA Calls for Design Excellence Entries

The new Stûv P10.

Stûv Unveils Its First Pellet Stove

On May 28, Stûv held a Backstage Party at its showroom/warehouse in a suburb of Montreal. It was an opportunity for company principals to socialize with many of their dealers, and to take the stage and present information about the company – a bit of its past, its present and its future goals.

Distributors are now in place to handle the majority of Canada, as well as a large chunk of the northeastern portion of the U.S. The company continues its search for the proper fit with distributors to handle the rest of the U.S.

Formerly a company specializing only in wood-burning products, Stûv now has gas products as well, and at the May 28th event introduced its first pellet stove – the P10. True to its tradition, the design emphasis of the P10 is on the fire, not the stove itself. Thus a large glass window showcases flames that tower to the top of the unit.

ICFA Calls for Design Excellence Entries

Entries are now being accepted for the 2015 Design Excellence Awards, the premier design recognition for home furnishings and accessories produced for outdoor living.

The competition is open to all companies exhibiting at the 2015 Casual Market Chicago, as well as outdoor fabric suppliers, who are not required to be exhibitors. The entry fee is $100 per product for members of the International Casual Furnishings Association, which coordinates the competition. Non-members may enter for $500 per product.

The entry deadline is 5pm, Friday, June 19, 2015.

Entries are sought in 11 categories: dining or bar table, dining or bar chair, chaise lounge, lounge seating – cushion, lounge seating – non-cushion, shade product, outdoor lighting product, heating/fire pit, outdoor carpeting/rugs/flooring, fabric and complementary casual product.

Competition rules and entry guidelines can be found on the ICFA website under the Membership Benefits tab.

The Design Excellence category judging will take place on Thursday, August 27. All category winners will be announced after the judging, with awards to be presented on Tuesday, September 15, in company showrooms at the Merchandise Mart.

All participants will enjoy added promotion of their Design Excellence product entries on an online “microsite” created by the ICFA. There is no additional fee to be included in the online microsite.

All companies submitting entries are urged to attend the ICFA Awards Gala at 6:30pm on Friday, September 18, at the Chicago Field Museum. During this event, the Lillian B. Winchester “Best of Show” Award will be presented from among the 11 category winners.
