Woodard 2017 Kitchen of the Year
Thursday, June 1, 2017
Woodard, a celebrated designer and maker of finely crafted outdoor furnishings, is featured in House Beautiful magazine’s Kitchen of the Year, which took place at the 2017 San Francisco Decorator Showcase. This is the tenth year the magazine has produced a Kitchen of the Year installation and the second time it has been located in San Francisco.
This year’s kitchen is designed by Jon de la Cruz of San Francisco’s DLC-ID, who brought his ability to create modern, timeless and inventive interiors to the showcase. His design honors the love of food and entertaining, and celebrates the kitchen as the new American living room.
The Kitchen of Year includes important adjacent living spaces, including the highly-desired outdoor dining and relaxing environments – the patio and porch. Woodard’s products were tapped by the designer for these spaces, specifically the company’s River Run, Hamilton and Woodlands collections. It is the second House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year in which Woodard’s products have been selected for inclusion.

“Outdoor dining and seating is especially appropriate for this home since it belongs to a large family with eight school-age children, including two sets of twins,” said Woodard’s Creative Director, Bill Herren. “We wanted to give them the ability to easily expand their kitchen and dining area onto the porch and patio.”
As the go-to spaces for much of the family’s entertaining, Woodard’s products, well known as the ‘art of the patio,’ not only exude casual sophistication, they provide much-needed durability for the family’s active lifestyle. “Woodard is continuously developing new innovations that allow our customers to enjoy easy, comfortable and worry-free outdoor living,” Herren said.
The company’s products – iron, aluminum and all-weather woven – thrive under relentless sun, rain, dirt and grime, pollen, sand and salt. Fabrics are stain- and fade-resistant, making maintaining Woodard furniture remarkably simple.
For the past 38 years, the annual San Francisco Decorator Showcase has benefited San Francisco University High School’s financial aid program, raising over $15 million and benefitting hundreds of students.
The project will also be featured in the October 2017 issue of House Beautiful, on newsstands September 19. Follow the hashtag #HBKOTY on Instagram or Twitter to see exclusive Kitchen of the Year coverage now.
