Consumer Confidence Declines in July

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index, which had improved in June, declined in July. The Index now stands at 90.9 (1985=100), down from 99.8 in June.

Says Lynn Franco, director of Economic Indicators at The Conference Board: “Consumer confidence declined sharply in July, following a gain in June. Consumers continue to assess current conditions favorably, but their short-term expectations deteriorated this month.

“A less optimistic outlook for the labor market, and perhaps the uncertainty and volatility in financial markets prompted by the situation in Greece and China, appears to have shaken consumers’ confidence. Overall, the Index remains at levels associated with an expanding economy and a relatively confident consumer.”

AF Distributors Now North American Distributor
for Beefeater BBQs

Electrolux Home Products Australia (Electrolux) acquired BeefEater Barbecues from Woodland Home Products (Woodlands) during the third quarter of 2014. Electrolux has appointed AF Distributors as its exclusive North America distributor effective July 1, 2015.

Arizona Fasteners Corporation is the parent company of Arizona Distributors, Arizona Fireplaces and AF Steel Fabricators all are based in Phoenix, Arizona. AF Distributors is known for large inventory, quick shipments and excellent customer service; it has been BeefEater’s largest U.S. distributor with the relationship going back over 15 years when BeefEater was first introduced into the U.S. market. For the past 10 years AF Distributors has also been the warranty fulfillment and technical call center for North America.

AF Distributors’ president, Keith Richardson, said “This is a great opportunity for both AF Distributors and the BeefEater brand. The BeefEater brand is well known with strong brand recognition in the North American market. With our distribution platform, technical expertise and warehouse facilities, we’re confident that we will increase customer support while accelerating outgoing shipments and product availability.”

AF Distributors has appointed Daroll Adams as national Sales manager. “Solidifying and putting confidence in the minds of our current customers during this transition is objective number one,” said Adams. Under Adams’ leadership AF Distributors will focus on three specific areas to help develop business for the remainder of 2015 and 2016.

  1. Operating Platform – With 94,000 sq. ft. of warehousing, along with larger inventory levels, all orders will be shipped within 36 hours of being received.
  2. Pricing – Dealers will continue to receive the same competitive pricing.
  3. Consolidating all activities – Order fulfillment process, technical support, replacement parts and warranty fulfillment all from one location will ensure quick and efficient service to the dealer network.

New Pillow Programs from
America’s Backyards & Outdoor Living

America’s Backyards & Outdoor Living will unveil, at the Las Vegas Casual Market, a dozen new outdoor pillow programs, all of which are available now to our retail partners and designers for the 2016 retail selling season. All pillows are constructed with Sunbrella fabrics that are wonderfully embellished with Ardwyn Bindings and acrylic yarns, creating beautifully embroidered appointments and much more.

Hearth & Home Technologies Summer Summit

Hearth & Home Technologies (HHT) hosted its second-annual Summer Summit June 8-10 at the historic Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. More than 400 attendees participated in two days of customized breakout sessions focused on best practices in online marketing, human resources, sales expertise, risk management and profit maximization, as well as brand immersions and hands-on product demonstrations from Heatilator, Heat & Glo, Quadra-Fire and Harman.


The event, designed for HHT customers to celebrate, collaborate, educate and win, was a success. “Customer events like the Summer Summit are key in keeping us grounded and connected with our customers,” VP Berger, president of Hearth and Home Technologies, said. “It’s our dealers and distributors who provide the passion, sales and service in the field every day, so it’s important we take the time to get together to collaborate and say thank you to our customers.”

HHT is currently planning the 2016 summer summit.
