Millennials: One in a Million

The last time an age group could legitimately be named “Millennials” was 1000 AD, and innovation around the globe had given that younger generation longbows (Wales), bars of soap (Arabia), toothpaste (China), and something essential to life support for today’s Millennials – pizza.

Our Millennials, born from 1977 to 1992, got the name by reaching adulthood around the year 2000.

Their musical, marital, and marketing habits will be inspiring studies for generations, but a new report from RealtyTrac answers the basic question: Where are they? With data gathered through the 2013 American Community Survey, when Millennials were between the ages of 21 to 36, RealtyTrac has located the Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) around the United States where Millennials comprise the highest percentage of the total population.

Below are the 10 MSAs where they are most concentrated. For the complete report, or any questions on this or our many other datasets, please contact our PR Department directly via email.

Las Vegas Market has announced that a dramatic and expanded presentation of temporary exhibits – The Pavilions at Las Vegas Market –will debut at Summer Market, offering some 90,000 total net sq. ft. of gift and home décor resources, organized in four categories: Design, Handmade, Home and Gift, as well as the introduction of a new category, “Discoveries – The Antique Vintage Marketplace.”

The Pavilions at Las Vegas Market are scheduled to debut Sunday, August 2, to Wednesday, August 5, 2015.

“This is the next big thing for Las Vegas Market, the first U.S. market to present temporary exhibits alongside permanent showrooms but in a dedicated and purpose-built trade show venue,” said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor, International Market Centers.

“This gives temporary exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their lines in a dramatic and easy to shop space, further strengthening and reinforcing Las Vegas Market’s position as the leading furniture, home decor and gift destination in the western United States.”

Highlights of the upcoming Summer Market include a celebration of the Market’s 10-year anniversary, creation of C11 – a new showroom floor for gourmet housewares, tabletop and specialty food – as well as the continuing growth of C5, another new permanent showroom floor for boutique home décor, high-end home textiles and accessories, and the repositioning and reimagining of the Market’s temporary exhibits.

Summer Market also will mark the premiere of a casual furniture market in Las Vegas, with 250,000 sq. ft. of permanent showrooms and temporary exhibit space on the 12th and 13th floors in Building C devoted to the casual/outdoor category.

The Summer 2015 Las Vegas Market runs August 2 to August 6, 2015, at World Market Center Las Vegas.

Kannoa Up & Running Following Fire

Kannoa, a contemporary outdoor furnishings designer and manufacturer, based in Miami, had their 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse burn to the ground on March 5.

Phillip Bolton, COO and co-founder of Kannoa, spoke to the local news station: “Thank God everyone is well. Nobody was harmed, the loss is only material and we are just concentrating on reorganizing to start fulfilling orders right now.”

Kannoa, has activated its contingency plan and already set up a new office location to continue operations. In addition, all manufacturing and inbound shipments have been fast-tracked to minimize any impact in its supply chain.

The fire broke out just before 8 am this past Thursday, before most employees had arrived for work. No injuries or casualties were reported after nearly 200 fire fighters worked for several hours to contain the huge blaze that destroyed the building. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this point.

According to Boulton, “Our business is like a family so our team is already working together to get Kannoa set up at a temporary office and warehouse in a nearby location.” He added that the goal is to be fully operational by Wednesday, March 11.

“Even though the entire inventory stored in that warehouse was totally destroyed,” he said, “we have a considerable amount of products in transit that will allow us to get back in business right away. Fortunately, all relevant data has been electronically backed up, so retrieving records will not be an issue.”

Deliveries set up for March and April will be delayed, but manufacturing orders will not be affected. The company was founded by two Venezuelan entrepreneurs in 2006 and currently employs 28 people in the Miami area.
